Thorough Investigation Will Expose Error

I have received many letters containing objections, suggestions and questions, which I shall endeavor to answer in due time. I am always glad to receive such letters, when written in the right spirit, as I do not expect that readers will accept everything that appears in the paper unquestioned, nor would I have them do so, but rather “let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”

Not infrequently great light is brought out by questions or objections; the truth never can be harmed in this way; thorough investigation will expose error, but it will make the truth shine brighter and brighter.

Daring to Think for Yourself

It is a melancholy and a humiliating fact that the opinions of most people are determined more by what others around them think and say than by what they believe themselves. They are not accustomed to the proper exercise of their own reason, and do not follow the convictions of their own minds.

Yet there are some who dare to think and act for themselves. To an active and an ingenuous mind there is no pursuit more fascinating than the pursuit of knowledge, no pleasure more exquisite than the discovery of truth. All those who would enjoy this pleasure in its highest sense must love Truth for herself alone; they must emancipate themselves from the trammels of prejudice and public opinion, and dare to follow Truth wherever she may lead.

Truth dreads no scrutiny; shields herself behind no breastwork of established custom or of respectable authority, but proudly stands upon her own merits.

Eternity: Where God Is “All in All”

As students of Scripture begin to learn the truth of the eons (or ages), and about bad translations such as “for ever,” “everlasting” and “eternal,” the natural question often arises, “Where do the Scriptures actually talk about real “eternity”?

The answer is a simple one: Nowhere.

Scriptures cover only the scope of human history (i.e., the ages, or eons). “Eternity” is far too much and too deep to burden the human mind. We know eternity exists because death will finally be destroyed and ultimately all men will be made immortal. The Scriptures do speak, however, of the consummation (i.e., end of the ages), when all will be delivered up to God the Father, that He may be “All in all” (I Corinthians 15:28).

So we do know what eternity will be: God, All in all.

This is sufficient revelation concerning eternity!
